EXERCISE THERAPY - INJURY RECOVERY
I assess your needs and meet you where you are at with programs planned to focus on the injuries which occur at the workplace, at home, or at play.
NOTE: The Industrial Athlete requires the same type of assessment, treatment and rehab exercises as the professional or weekend athlete. The difference between an athlete and an industrial athlete is the respective playing fields.
Hands on exercise therapy/massage, myofascial tissue release, stretch programs, conditioning programs are provided to complement traditional medical treatments.
EXERCISE THERAPY - STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
Building and maintaining strength, flexibility and condition are core components to deterring aging and retaining functional movement.
Did you know - Strong gluteal muscles (butt muscles) are needed to stand, walk and balance? Strong gluteal muscles make up part of a strong core which enables us to get in or out of a car; sit and strand from the toilet or a chair. These are functional activities!
Gluteal muscles atrophy/weaken the more we sit. Sitting can be a part of our job, however, there are simple exercises which can be done to build strength in order to maintain function.
COUCH POTATOES are NOT FUNCTIONAL!!!!
FITNESS & STRETCHING
Exercise and movement are vital to life. My observation is that as humans, we are always in a flexed forward position, hunching over a computer, phone, steering wheel, kitchen counter, etc. Over time, this throws our skeletal muscles and body out of alignment creating musculature and skeletal imbalances.
Rounded shoulders lead to neck and upper back pain, weaker core muscles to include the abdominals, lower back, hip flexors and hip extensors. It is a reaction creating muscular imbalance up the kinematic chain.
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) is my tool to improve muscle elasticity and restore muscular balance to the body.
NUTRITION
Dietary habits are often sabotaged by emotional needs as opposed to what the body actually needs. Exploring triggers for eating habits can be key to changing these habits. Developing new individual coping skills partnered with a nutritious dietary plan helps the client to be successful when responding to these triggers.
Together, we find what works best for you.
MINDFULNESS AND STRESS REDUCTION
Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, exercise and and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress.
Stress can have a significant impact on your health and well-being, but with the right tools and strategies, it is possible to manage stress effectively. Our stress management services include a range of evidence-based techniques and practices to help you reduce stress and improve your mental and emotional well-being.
CHRONIC DISEASE
Living with a chronic condition can be challenging, but with the right care and support, it is possible to manage your symptoms and improve your quality of life. Our individualized programs are designed to provide you with the tools and resources you need to take control of your health and live your best life.
